Sexual Orientation Regulations
- Published 09/15/2007
You may be aware, from recent media attention, of the Westminster Government's intention to implement the new Sexual Orientation Regulations. There has been much speculation about the future of St Margaret's in the light of that Act. I would like to reassure you that there are no plans for St Margaret's to close. In fact, Archbishop Conti, the President of this Society has publicly expressed his support to the continued operation of St Margaret's. He said: "The Bishops of Scotland are very aware of the challenging nature of the legislation, but are nonetheless determined that the good work being done by agencies like St Margaret's should not be lost. Therefore I want to reassure you that St Margaret's will continue with its work, and will continue to be faithful to its mission, namely to find families for children."The full text of this statement is on the Archdiocese of Glasgow website which can be found at: www.rcag.org.uk
St Margaret's intends to continue to operate as an adoption agency offering a quality service to prospective parents and children placed for adoption.
